Seminarium "Products"

12:04
Welcome to today's seminar!
12:06
Please note, Trevor Kidd will be on hand at the D&D XP Seminar, to help transcribe the speakers' presentation.
12:08
Comments in these chats are moderated (meaning, they are approved before being published) so as not to overwhelm the transcription.
12:09
But please do comment and ask questions; we keep a record of questions raised in these chats (published and unpublished) that we'll bring back to R&D, to let them know what's on your mind.
12:11
You do not need to log on to the D&D website to leave comments in these chats; just enter a name (or let it default to guest) and comment in the chat field itself.
12:19
Comment From Lanethan
Excited to hear what we have in store for this year!

12:19
Comment From Shimrath
Live chat is the best way to attend dndxp wearing only your underwear!

12:19
Comment From TheActionPoint
Afghanistan is here and listening!!!

12:20
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
So is this just future releases for 4e, or future releases 5e, or all of the above?

12:20
Comment From Entropy-Rising
Or attend from the other side of the world

12:20
Comment From Avin
I will be at swimming pool later, will they be talking about cosmology, maybe?

12:20
Comment From weebeegamers
underwear? you got me beat!

12:20
Comment From Dantracker
i hope it is only for D&DNext products

12:21
Comment From Entropy-Rising
Now that you mention it underwear sounds good barmy summer in Oz

12:21
Comment From TheActionPoint
I really hope the Great Wheel and 4E Cosmology get supported. Bringing back one and not getting rid of the other will be all-inclusive

12:22
Comment From unMadeMan
Soldiers from Afghanistan, listening in.

12:22
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
I always viewed cosmology as fluff fit to be changed at the DM / Groups whim :)

12:22
Comment From Avin
Hey, it's summer here in Brasil ;)

12:22
Comment From Dantracker
true. it would be nice to have cosmology that entertains multiple perspectives.

12:23
Comment From Lanethan
I hope we hear about 4e products as well as anything else in store for 2012. 2011 was the best year for 4e materials yet, hope they can continue that trend.

12:23
Comment From Dantracker
i'd even appreciate a mono-theistic setting that still suppors divine characters without an inquisition.

12:23
Comment From Dandy
I'm curious how much support there will be 4e leading up to the switch over to D&DNEXT.

12:23
Comment From TheActionPoint
@Preston-- LOTS of people didn't. I know a lot of folks who gave the finger to 4E because of the fluff changes alone.

12:24
Comment From Entropy-Rising
The 4e Cosmology is good in that it not hard to refluff to fit other settings

12:24
Comment From LanceK
You need a base cosmology to get across the 'story' of D&D though, and that should be core.

12:24
Comment From Dantracker
What area of Brasil? I lived in Campinas for two years. But i've been away for the past ten yers.

12:24
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
@thesoldiers Thank you.

12:24
Comment From BlackDougal
How do you guys feel about getting away from 3-18 and just using the ability mod as the ability score (+1, -3, etc)

12:24
Comment From Goken
I want to know what products will support the different modules; IE if there's a product that offers 4E type powers, what product will that be in?

12:24
Comment From Lanethan
But that cosmology changes from setting to setting, right? So what should be "Core"?

12:25
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
@TheActionPoint so sad that people who play a game about imagination and adventure seem to lack the imagination to change such a simple thing x.x;

12:25
Comment From AlphaDean
Morning all long time gamer here been playing D&D since the late 76'

12:25
Comment From unMadeMan
I agree. A basic level of cosmology should be included

12:25
Comment From Ewen
To me just using the ability score modifiers makes perfect sense (and True20 used that well), but I'm pretty sure it's never going to happen.

12:25
Comment From TheActionPoint
BlackDougal-- they are trying to make this inclusive. Getting rid of 3-18 won't happen; doing so would offend the grognards too much again.

12:25
Comment From Dantracker
i'm fine with a change to ability scores/mods, but i still want the abilty/mod to be used as a support, not as a basis. I mean to say, I want skills that use mods, rather than abilities dictating skills.

12:25
Comment From Starglyte
I keep holding out hope for something Ravenloft.

12:26
Comment From OttawaTom
Well now that we're in a transition time, we're running out of time for Greyhawk to Mae it into 4E. Are we seeing Greyhawk anytime in the future?

12:26
Comment From LanceK
Core cosmology should be close to 3E I believe. Its easy, accessible, and fits nicely with classes.

12:26
Comment From Pony
I hope for Dragonlance.

12:26
Comment From Brendan Carroll
The problem i think with 4E was it was just so radical a change that it turned off people. Not just changing the fluff. My friends pretty much said "if i want to play an MMO i'll get a warcraft account"

12:27
Comment From AlphaDean
Ithink alot of what ture20 did would benefint D&D5E immensly

12:27
Comment From Ewen
IIRC it was Mike Mearls who basically said he loves Greyhawk but it's a poor fit for 4E.

12:27
Comment From LanceK
Getting rid of Vancian magic in 4E turned off as many people as it turned on, I think. But those that were turned off were the older players, generally.

12:27
Comment From Ultimate_Arcane
Didn't 3.5 have an MMO?

12:27
Comment From TheActionPoint
But now there is a whole generation of new gamers who have 4E as their base. If they go back to ONLY the Great Wheel, they're doing the same to the 4E gamers as they did in the change from 3E to 4E.

12:27
Comment From unMadeMan
@Brendan that was exactly my sentiment. I didnt really give 4e a chance until I got to afghanistan and that was all there was to play

12:28
Comment From sembiano fro Brazil
I hope for Dragonlance too!

12:28
Comment From AlphaDean
I Love GreyHawk... or at least Castle GeyHawk

12:28
Comment From OttawaTom
Then I eagerly await Greyhawk in D&DNext

12:28
Comment From Entropy-Rising
Eberon unlimited still going

12:28
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
And there's another argument that needs to be put down like a rabid dog "4e is just an mmo wah wah blah blah" X.X just... Stop the hate

12:28
Comment From brindy
I'm interested to know what's in store for DDI. My main use is character builder and compendium.

12:28
Comment From Ultimate_Arcane
It just seems odd that people got all uppity about 4e being like an MMO when 3.5 had its own MMO.

12:28
Comment From Starglyte
KnownWorld/HollowWorld wouldn't be bad either.

12:29
Comment From LanceK
I love the core cosmology as a Greyhawk base, but Eberron is my world of choice.

12:29
Comment From Guest
Continued/more support for Organized Play and RPGA campaigns like LFR, or even bring Ashes of Athas into the fold.

12:29
Comment From TheActionPoint
I think the "retro" feel that 5E will obviously have would be a GREAT time to bring back Greyhawk in its full glory instead of watered down like they did for 3E

12:29
Comment From Henge Guardian
6:30 Sunday morning in New Zealand.

12:29
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
2nd ed. 3.x. Marvel Super Heroes TSR, Shadowrun. Rifts. 4e. Pathfinder. Give me a game and some friends, and stop the hate.

12:29
Comment From K-bec
I wonder if with the 5e we will see boxes return?

12:29
Comment From paulbaalham
@brindy I am also interested in what will happen to DDI

12:29
Comment From AlphaDean
I tried to do 4E, it was just too far away from what a knew and loved. My gaming group was completely against it. I wanted to love 4E, but it just didn't work

12:29
Comment From Ultimate_Arcane
As long as the next edition has at-will abilities that matter, I'll give it a shot.

12:29
Comment From DebbieHunton
I'd hate for the stats to go away entirely. That would, imo, make it NOT D&D at all.

12:30
Comment From D&DForever
Greyhawk and Dragonlance please.

12:30
Comment From Ultimate_Arcane
We saw boxes come back at the end of fourth with the essentials stuff.

12:30
Comment From dmRCBonk
As a matter of fact, DDO Eberron Unlimited is bringing out a premium expansion that is taking place in the Forgotten Realms, Underdark to be exact.

12:30
Comment From Guest
Eh, 4e had amazingly fun combat, and was easy for any DM to make a combat encounter... which led to lots of DMs who couldnt run anything else.

12:30
Comment From Jaime
What is the next game for D&D System Adventures Boardgame?

12:30
Comment From unMadeMan
Yeh, DDI is a huge draw for me

12:30
Comment From LanceK
An idea I think they need to consider is giving away the core book for free as an online PDF or at least make it 14.99

12:30
Comment From BlackDougal
I think that there should perhaps be an ~example~ cosmology and campaign world, but not ~base~ ones. Let the game encourage a "build your own world" vibe.

12:31
Comment From Starglyte
As long as those boxes are like the old school boxes with the lid being able to be taken off. I hated the boxes they used for Shadowfell and Gadmore

12:31
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
Spelljammer.

12:31
Comment From TheActionPoint
And boxes sell really well nowadays, especially if they have other goodies like tokens and maps.

12:31
Comment From DebbieHunton
The only reason I dislike the "like an MMO" is that there's very little risk of your character dying. D&D had risk, and that kind of got lost in 4e

12:31
Comment From Loki_42
I'd really like 5e to have some form of OGL and SRD come with it. I believe that's one of the major reasons for 3.5 and company's continued success.

12:32
We're starting coverage of the product seminar here at D&D XP. Thanks everyone for joining us!

12:32
The first thing Mike is talking about is the Premium !st EditionCore Rulebooks.

12:32

12:33
Here's an image of those books:

12:33
Comment From dmRCBonk
Gygax is being well respected with these reprints.

12:33
Comment From Markelhay
I like the idea of playing 1e again.

12:34
Comment From OttawaTom
How will gaming stores be able to get them, will there be a limit on te numbers they can order?

12:34
Alright, having problems with sharing the image, so we'll just move on for now.

12:35
A portion of the 1E books goes to the Gygax Memorial fund, so make sure to check that out.

12:35
Comment From Markelhay
Will there be anything in the Premium rulebooks that wasn't in the original, or will it just be a reprint?

12:35
Please noyte: Trevor Kidd is on hand at the D&D XP Seminar, to help transcribe the speakers' presentation. Comments in these chats are moderated (meaning, they are approved before being published) so as not to overwhelm the transcription.

12:35
But please do comment and ask questions; we keep a record of questions raised in these chats (published and unpublished) that we'll bring back to R&D, to let them know what's on your mind.

12:36
Next, Mike is talking about the Dungeon Survival Handbook which comes out in May. Focuses on dungeon campaigns, tips and tricks for DMs as well as ideas for players.

12:37
Comment From Entropy-Rising
Is there any chance of getting these overseas?

12:37
In august we're revisiting the drow city of Menzoberranzan. The idea with this book if you wanted to adventure down in the underdark you could do that. If you want to play drow or other denizens in the city, working in or for one of the houses, you can have adventure where some of the players are pitted against each other as they vie for their own agenda's or their own houses.

12:37
Comment From TheActionPoint
What is the crunch/fluff ratio for this book? Will we see more rules for traps and hazardous terrain in this?

12:38
Tied in with that we have a Underdark map pack and a drow and treachery themed fortune card set in the following months as well.

12:38
Comment From Henge Guardian
Excellent, love me some drow goodies.

12:38
Comment From Markelhay
Will the Dungeon Survival Handbook be 4e or 5e? Or will it not be edition-specific?

12:38
Comment From Starglyte
What levels are they aiming for with Menzoberranzan?

12:39
Comment From Kasonic
4th edition was very open about the ease of reskinning content, whether for players or DMs. Will 5th edition maintain this philosophy?

12:39
Comment From brindy
Will it be a single book containing both player and DM information? This was a let down for Neverwinter, which would have been better presented in 2 separate smaller books.

12:39
Comment From Entropy-Rising
Will the Menzoberranzan book be similar in format to the Neverwinter setting book in terms of format?

12:39
Comment From Elie
Is the new Underdark material connected to the new Underdark themed D&D Online expansion later this year?

12:40
Comment From Edheldude
Will the Menzoberranzan book be a traditional list of things in the city or a toolkit to run the city on the fly?

12:40
Next we have Elminster's Forgotten Realms. We basically went to Ed and said hey, why don't you take all your campaign notes, all the information you've been putting together for your FR campaign and lets compile it into a book. Show us the realms as you've developed it in your campaign setting and lets get that to everybody. It's our celebration of the forgotten realms and pulling back the curtain to show you what the designer of the campaign setting has done.

12:41
Comment From Starglyte
Ouch, Drow Treachery cards sounds like what I my pc group does already.

12:41
Comment From brindy
Can you tell us more about the PvP possibilities with the Drow book? Will it work OK for home play, or is it more for store play>

12:42
Now on to board games. Lords of Waterdeep is slated for March. It's basd on the city of Waterdeep in Forgotten Realms. Each player takes on a lord of the city and competes for influence and prestige by recruiting adventurer's and sending them on quests. Euro style game.

12:43
You'll be hearing more about this too as we go forward.

12:43
Comment From TheActionPoint
I am all kinds of keen on any project that shows the development BEHIND the finished product. I'm not even a Realms fan, and this sounds neat.

12:43
Comment From dmRCBonk
Very nice, great idea going to the true source of Forgotten Realms for more material.

12:43
Comment From Starglyte
Elminster's FR, 4ed book or not?

12:44
July we have the miniatures game, called Dungeon Comman. Each faction comes with twelve minis. We'll have the drow set, sting of lolth, and the hero set, Heart o fCormyr. You can player a two player game with one set, or you can get both sets and pit one against the other.

12:44
Comment From Kasonic
The description provided indicates the book will deal with sociopolitical issues in the city. Are there any innovations or deviations on skill challenges mentioned?

12:45
It's a diceless game that really focuses on tactics and strategy with a lot of the random elements removed. Each box comes with a tile set that locks together as well, providing a limited battlefield to play on.

12:46
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
With Dungeon Command, can we expect new sculpts or revisits of old sculpts? Will other armies be released later, or expansions for the current armies?

12:46
Comment From Entropy-Rising
will these minitures be the same scale and quality as previous minutures, and therefore usable in DnD?

12:46
That pretty much wraps up our products for the summer. We're really busy on the D&D Next stuff, but we're excited about these products and the 4E support that we'll be having in Dungeon and Dragon. We're going to go ahead and queue up for questions now.

12:47
Comment From dmRCBonk
Are they sticking with prepainted plastic minis or will they be plain plastic like the newer boardgame minis?

12:47
Comment From Delgard
Will the minis be painted?

12:47
Dungeon Command: Does it come with adventure style cards?

12:47
Yes, minis will come with adventure stat cards for the minis.

12:47
Comment From jovis70
will you still be releasing tile sets?

12:47
Question - Do we have anything coming up that deals with fey monsters?

12:48
Comment From HitOnCrit
The last products of a current edition always seem to carry elements of the next (Book of Nine Swords). Hopefully these last 4E Products will be hinting 5E developments.

12:48
A: We have several articles on fey support. One is ecology on the wee fey, from Steve Townsend. Has Sylphs, griggs, pixies and some others.

12:49
Comment From Dave G
Is there are target date for the start of D&Dnext open playtesting?

12:49
Comment From AlexanderIronjaw
In the future will you be focusing more or less on minis? Will you continue with the current style of minis or will you be able to assemble and paint your own ala warhammer?

12:49
Comment From The Magus
Will you be bringing back Dragonlance? And if so, which Era will it be in? (I'm hoping for back to just after Legends.)

12:49
Comment From Markelhay
Question: Will there be expansions on the core rulebooks of D&D 5e?

12:49
Q: Will Dungeon Command have rescuplts, repaints or something else?
A: There will be new scuplts, and there will be repaints. One of the primary focuses for the warbands is that they have a unified feel. So they will look like they belong together.

12:50
Q: Do you have a price point for Dungeon Command?
A: $40 is the msrp

12:50
Comment From Gary
Is Ed 's forgotten Realms edition neutral?

12:51
Comment From Entropy-Rising
Will the Dungeon Command Warbands have a good mix of minis to represent an encounter in a game of DnD?

12:51
To Gary: It focuses on his specific campaign, so his individual stories might mention mechanics from different editions, the stories and lore should apply to all editions.

12:51
Comment From Markelhay
Question: DO you have a price point for the D&D Next core rulebooks?

12:52
Comment From Guest
Any more "Collectors" sets? ala dragons - beholders

12:52
Q: Do we have any ravenloft suport planned?
A: We do have some ravenloft stuff planned for DDI later this year.

12:52
Comment From AlexanderIronjaw
Will there be a return to metasettings like Planescape or Spelljammer?

12:52
To Guest - we may do more collectors sets, and if/when we do - you'll see it on the website first.

12:52
Comment From Excalainen
Will 4e get a new Monster Manual or DMG? Epic tier support would be especially appreciated.

12:53
Comment From Markelhay
Question: How many minis can we expect to see in D&D Next?

12:53
Comment From jovis70
will the D&D Next by available as downloadable PDF's ?

12:53
Comment From Ainamacar
Going forward with D&D Next, will campaign setting releases continue the 4e model of multiple settings with a single book followed by article support?

12:53
To Excalainen - The 2012 products that run through summer don't have another MM or DMG in in teh works for that time period.

12:54
Comment From Markelhay
Question: Will Insider users still have access to 4e stuff when D&D Next comes out?

12:54
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
Will there be a continuation of the tokens like in Monster Vault? My groups find these very useful.

12:54
Ainamacar - This chat is focusing on the 2012 releases, not the D&D Next stuff.

12:54
Comment From Raviv
Are there any "sequels" planned for the adventure board games series and/or for Conquest of Nerath ?

12:54
Comment From Guest
Are there any plans for e-books in 2012?

12:55
Q: Can we expect to see more sets and warbands for Dungeon Command.
A: This is definitely something we'd like to continue, different sets and warbands that cover different heroes and monsters.

12:55
Comment From Starglyte
Heroes of the Far Realm, any hope for this before the edition change? :D

12:55
Comment From K-bec
So the next d&d isn't planned for 2012?

12:55
Comment From Kexder
The Book of vile Darkness has been released. Any plans for The Book of Exalted Deeds?

12:56
Comment From Dave G
any upcoming Greyhawk support for 4E?

12:56
to K-bec - We're opening up playtesting for the next iteration of D&D this spring, so we dont' have plans to have products for D&D Next in 2012.

12:57
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
Heroes of the Elemental Chaos is coming out soon - any teasers you can give us that aren't going to be on the website? ;)

12:57
Comment From Dandy
what player to dm material ratio is in the dungeon explorers guide?

12:57
Comment From Entropy-Rising
If not Heroes of the Far Realm, any Dragon articles that focus of the Far Realm coming up?

12:57
Q: Any plans to rerelease the other products for 1E and 2E and other editions, either in print or electronically.

A: We are lookig at making a lot of that older material available to you, but we want to make sure we do it right for you guys and for wizards. We'll have more news on that.

12:58
Comment From Kasonic
Is the 1st edition Premium PHB a page-for-page reprint, a touched up version, or rewritten?

12:58
Comment From Excalainen
Does the Dungeon Survival Handbook contain new sub-classes, paragon paths, feats, powers, etc?

12:58
Comment From Delgard
What's next for the D&D Adventure Games line?

12:59
Q: Is there going to be organized play for Dungeon Command?

A: We're doing a Dungeon Command game day which will be fairly casual. It will be your first chance for an organized play for Dungeon Command. It will also be our first forray into OP for the game. We'll be giving some tournament support so that the framework is in place for stores, and we'll be seeing what you guys think of it and how you want to expand it.

12:59
Comment From Markelhay
Does the Dungeon Survival Handbook include new traps, terrain, and dungeon ideas?

1:00
Comment From Goken
Any future Adventure System board games coming out? Or is that line pretty much done?

1:00
To Excalianen - The Dungeon Survival Guide contains primary underdark themed powers and new playable races. Some of these racers have been given npc stats, but now they have full blown pc information. One example would be the goblin.

1:01
Comment From Grixul
Any plans for a Ravenloft (not just a board game) supplement in the future

1:01
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
from brainclouds on twitter:::: BrainClouds David Flor Gonna miss #ddxp seminar. Can someone ask about submission expectations for DDI in light of #dndNext ?

1:01
to Grixul - we have some Ravenloft support showing up in DDI later this year, but greg was teasing us a bit about it and being a little cryptic.

1:02
Comment From Guest
Are you planning to sell electronic versions of D&D game products, just as you have embraced that option with novels?

1:02
Comment From jovis70
my associate would like to know if Gamma world will be getting further support

1:02
Comment From Pony
Q. Any plans for DragonLance?

1:03
To Guest  - we're definitely looking into the digital options and we want to find ways to get that product to people, but we need to make sure we find what what's best for you and for Wizards. When we have more information we'll be sharing it

1:03
Comment From Style75
Can you explain a bit more about how the Menzoberranzan Drow vs. PC's mechanic is going to work?

1:03
Comment From Shane
The Mini's where announced awhile ago that they had stopped productions, and seems WotC went more towards using Tokens. With the next edition coming out, well you be bring the Mini's back into production?

1:04
Question: Do we have any player support for Kobolds in the near future?
Answer: Yes, we have kobolds as a player race in the underdark book.

1:04
Comment From Excalainen
Are you considering Heroes of the Astral Sea? Avengers, invokers, and runepriests could use some love.

1:05
To Shane - we're getting back into the minis with the warbands from Dungeon Command. We'll have to see how things go with playtesting and product announcements for D&D Next when we get to that point.

1:05
Comment From brindy
Isn't PvP in D&D contrary to the core philosophy of the game, or has some desire / demand been established?

1:05
Comment From Cassi
And support for epic-tier? Epic destinies, monsters, stats blocks of deities, primordials, demon lords, archdevils or other things of that level?

1:05
Comment From Style75
There's been a lot of FR support recently, including support for both pre and post-spellplague timelines. Is this something that will continue through 2012?

1:05
Comment From bungo
Any other Savage species?

1:05
to brindy - sometimes having conflicting goals or giving a chane for a little back stabbing can be fun and intriuging. D&D has always had some of that, this books just explores some of those optoins.

1:06
Comment From Ultimate_Arcane
Any plans for Orcs and Goblinoids as player races?

1:06
Comment From Kasonic
Do you plan to continue with the Silverlight versions of Adventure Tools and Character Builder? Will all digital content be provided in-browser in the feature or are there any plans for desktop versions, like the old Character Builder?

1:06
To Ultimate Arcane - yes, you'll see some of that in the dungeon survival handbook.

1:06
Comment From Delgard
Any plans to release more campaign-like options for the D&D Adventure System board games?

1:07
To Kasonic - the current DDI tools will likely remain in silverlight for the forseeable future. No news on what future tools may be like yet.

1:07
Comment From Entropy-Rising
Will Kobolds still have Shifty?

1:07
Comment From Markelhay
Any plans for new traps? I'd really like to see more

1:07
To Delgard and others about the Adventure System board game - Currently we have no new info or news about other adventure board games.

1:08
Comment From Markelhay
Question: Will there be new class options for Shadow classes?

1:08
Comment From Shane
Are there any plans to re-support, reproduce or to even update Gamma World?

1:08
to Entropy-Rising: Jeremy is being secretive about the kobold's race abilities. We'll have to wait and see.

1:08
Comment From Style75
The D&D adventure system boardgames are very popular. Any plans to release new monster cards or encounter cards expansions?

1:09
Comment From Style75
Are there any products being planned that will "wrap-up" 4e before the release of D&DNext?

1:10
Comment From Style75
What's next for D&D Encounters?

1:10
To jovis70 - on Gamma world, we don't have any futher products planned for GW at this time.

1:11
Comment From Guest
Question: Is there a specific date or month for the open playtest of D&D Next?

1:12
Q: Can we expect other super adventure's like Gardmore Abbey from Wizards in the future?

A: We're really happy with the response and it's definitely a model we're looking at. A lot of it is making sure we get the balance right between the module, the other features like tokens, and the price point.

1:12
Comment From Entropy-Rising
Is Dragon going to continue having 'theme' months? and is there any hints about what they might be?

1:12
Comment From TheActionPoint
Seconding Style's Q-- info on Encounters, please.

1:12
Comment From Excalainen
I would love to see reprints of classic 1e and 2e modules that I could convert to my 4e games. Do you see that as possible?

1:13
Comment From Wyzard
Is there likely to be any future support for the Vampire class? It's a very cool, innovative class that just doesn't have quite enough love yet.

1:13
Comment From Kasonic
Will the Menzoberranzan book offer any new class features or -completely- new races?

1:13
Comment From Greg@PDX
will we see more support for other plane adventures, would like to see a campaign module for the Astral Sea.

1:14
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
Any plans to release older Encounters seasons adventures, maybe after they are 2 or 3 seasons old, as DDI bonuses? Many people cannot make these adventures, but would still like to experience them. Re: people overseas w/o an LGS, people who work retail or fast food w/o a set schedule, etc.

1:14
For Preston_R and brainclouds  - we have another DDI window coming up soon, and we're continuing to go forward with 4E support. That will remain the case until we make an announcement about whatever is coming next.

1:15
Comment From Style75
Will there ever be a "Gloomwrought" style kit for the Feywild? I would like more DM oriented Feywild material.

1:16
Comment From Happymoney
Are you considering re-releasing any other editions of D&D at some point in the future?

1:16
To Style - no current announced plans for a big feywild kit at this point - really focusing on the products we have coming out later this year and all teh playtesting and developing of D&D Next

1:16
Comment From Goken
I know nothing's concrete, but any thoughts on digital books other than novels?

1:16
Comment From Starglyte
Whats the most exciting thing about 4E this year that you can't wait to share with us?

1:16
to Happymoney - we'd like to get more products from our back catalog out to you guys and we're looking at ways we can make that happen.

1:17
Comment From PaladinNicolas
Will people outside the U.S. have the chance of playtesting dndnext?

1:17
Comment From jovis70
is the 1st edition re-release just a reprint or was it updated?

1:18
Comment From Greg@PDX
Will something be published for DM's on custom magic items, would be nice to have guild lines on powers of items for recommended character level.

1:19
to Greg - at this point, no plans for a book on custom magic items like that, but it could be something to look forward to or to submit as a Dragon/Dungeon article

1:19
Comment From Markelhay
Will there be more artifacts? I think we could use some more

1:20
Q: How do you see the modularity being sold in different products in D&D Next.

A: It's really important that we include core and modules that you think are really important to D&D in the core books.

1:20
Comment From jovis70
good question Greg@PDX will there be any DDI articles on the mechanics of 4th edition

1:20
Comment From Markelhay
Will D&D Insider release new artifacts?

1:20
Comment From Jim
Sorry if this has been asked and answered - any plans for Greyhawk with the next iteration of the rules?

1:21
Comment From PaladinNicolas
Is there a chance that campaign settings that have been abandoned for a while, like Birthright, are supported again -e.g. selling e-versions of old material-?

1:21
Comment From Raviv
What about strategy board games like Conquest of Nerath ?

1:21
to Jim - we are looking at ways of getting the products from our back catalog, like those greyhawk books and reference material, out to people in some form. We haven't settled on the details but we'll let you know when we do :)

1:22
Comment From dmRCBonk
Is there any chance we'll ever see a D&D Icons Gargantuan Green Dragon mini? It's the only one missing and the Colossal Red, Gargantuan Black, Blue and Whites are missing their cousin... :)

1:22
Comment From Kasonic
Are there any particular classes or power sources that, time and money no object, you'd personally like to see additional content released for before 4E's twilight?

1:22
Comment From Dandy
Is there any player content planned for the second half of the year?

1:22
to Raviv - we have the Lords of Waterdeep euro style game coming out this year and the minis game as well. Other than that, no wargames or board games announced/planned

1:23
Comment From Preston_R @I_Roll_20s
I have forwarded this on the forums, but for DDI subscribers any chance of creating a blank setting map. One with just terrain and little dots where cities could be etc, but without any labels or any presupposed fluff? Something that DMs could use to help them build worlds without using colored pencils or marker? :D

1:23
Comment From GTCharlie
When will we begin seeing Dungeon Command preview sculpts of the minis?

1:23
Comment From Style75
The Dungeoneers guide, is there any connection to the old 1st edition book by the same name?

1:24
Comment From ZanderKreegan
Any plans on expanding on the Elemental Chaos, like you did after Heroes of Shadow and heroes of the Feywild?

1:24
to GTCharlie - you should start seeing preview material for Dungoen Command in the next couple months.

1:24
Comment From Style75
Will the Menzoberranzan product be a book or box set?

1:24
Comment From ZanderKreegan
Is there any news on when "playtest" DDI stuff, like Tools of Two Trades and Hengeyokai, will be in the CB/Compendium?

1:25
Comment From John
I see three warband sets for the Dungeon Command game on Amazon (Cormyr, goblins, and drow). Any more coming up?

1:25
Comment From ZanderKreegan
Will we get an article or anything on hybrids from the books after Heroes of Shadow?

1:25
Comment From jovis70
any word on some more DDI content for the seeker and ruinpriest

1:26
Comment From Markelhay
Question: Will we see more support for Assassin?

1:26
Comment From Style75
What did you learn from the Dungeon command playtest? Is the final version the same one we playtested?

1:26
Just as a reminder, the chat is moderated so all your comments show up in a side bar for us here running things. We see all the questions and we'll be forwarding them all on to R&D to see what we can answer later. We're also publishing some to the room and answering as many as we're able to now.

1:27
Comment From Josha
Will Menzoberranzan only cover the Paragon tier?

1:27
Style75 - Lots of feedback was useful and shaped Dungeon Command. You should definitely recognize some elements from that playtesting.

1:27
Comment From ZanderKreegan
You've stated you aren't making any more races for 4e--what about the subraces concept? Will we see more fo those implemented for other races in future materials?

1:28
Comment From Happymoney
When do you plan to release D&D Next? Or has this already been answered?

1:28
Comment From Asklepian
Any tips on topics for DDI submissions? Any topics that the staff wants to see covered?

1:28
To Happymoney - we're not ready to start talking about dates yet. We're still in the early stages of playtesting. I can tell you it won't be this year for sure.
1:29
Comment From ZanderKreegan
Will we get online tools to accompany D&D Next playtesting?
1:29
Comment From GTCharlie
I loved the Haunted Temples map packs. What sort of publishing schedule might we be looking at for further packs?
1:30
Comment From Style75
What can you tell us about upcoming dungeon tile sets?
1:30
Q: Is there any plan to bring back oerth and greyhawk?

A: The stories and worlds of past editions of D&D are just as important to our development and ideas for D&D Next as the rules and other information is. I don't have any more information to share at this time, but we're definitely exploring and excited about what we have planned.
1:31
Comment From Markelhay
WIll we continue to see 4e stuff after D&D Next comes out?

1:32
Comment From Goken
Any comments on book format of choice for D&D Next? How do you feel about the Essentials experiment vs. traditional, larger hard-back books?

1:32
Comment From ZanderKreegan
Will there be any updates to the online CB to make it more "homebrew-friendly?"

1:33
Comment From Guest
Any plans to publish more supplemental material for PH3 and other new classes that haven't been supported with an additional book (in the way that, for example, psionics characters have)?

1:33
Comment From ZanderKreegan
How open are the D&D Next playtests? Will there be an NDA, and is it completely invitation-only?

1:33
Comment From Style75
Will there be another Lair Assault after Umberlee? That series has been very popular at my FLGS.

1:33
To Goken - we're not at the point where we can talk about what those D&D Next products/books will or should look like quite yet.

1:35
to Style - there is another Lair Assault planned for the summer - spider killer

1:35
Comment From other Trevor
Any chance of coordinating products? Like the minis game, a tile or map set, a setting/environment book, and and adventure that uses all of them? (Preferably without older out-of-print products required other than maybe PC minis/tokens.)

1:35
Comment From ZanderKreegan
Do you feel like, by the time 4e ends, you will be satisfied with what you have accomplished?

1:36
Comment From Style75
What is the future of LFR when 4e ends and D&D Next begins? Will WotC take back control?

1:36
Comment From Greg@PDX
Will there be some other types of challanges similar to encounters and lair assault to expand other dimentions of the DnD world such as travelling through the Astral Sea. Maybe a good pirate ship battle vs astral pirates?

1:36
to the other Trevor - Yes, that's really what we're planning. You'll see that we have an underdark themed setting style book, and the encounters season and Lair assault have the same thing, which is also linked to the dungeon adventuring book.

1:37
Comment From Delgard
Any super adventures (like Gardmore) coming out in 2012?

1:37
Comment From Kasonic
For D&DNext R&D: Monte Cook mentioned previously that they plan to balance characters between the three pillars, not independently within each. Does this mean the team endorses "shining in the spotlight" balancing, where each player shines in a simple gameplay aspect above the rest of his party, or was this miscontrued and classes will be balanced to have appropriate skills for each of the three pillars to keep everyone engaged in all aspects?

1:37
Comment From Al
Hopefully material that is used currently at FLGS can be published so people who can't get have a chance to run in there home campaign.

1:38
Comment From Markelhay
ANy adventures at all coming out in 2012?

1:38
to Delgard - We don't have a lot to talk about beyond the products that were mentioned today, but the Gardmore has been succesful and there are a lot of elements of those kinds of super adventures that we're looking at when looking at adventure products for the future.

1:39
Comment From M. L. Martin
Markelhay--Undermountain is still set for April, I believe.

1:39
Comment From ZanderKreegan
Does Wizards of the Coast plan on keeping their policy of releasing materials earlier for FLGSs? Especially continuing into D&D Next?

1:40
To Kasonic - each character/player should be able to shine, but that doesn't mean that others fall to the way side. Also keep in mind that when they shine is important. We're not talking about one class shining in combat, and another not shining in combat, or one class shining in social situation and another not shining. We're talking about classes shining in different ways in combat, or in different ways in social and RP, or in different ways when exploring.

1:40
Comment From Style75
Can you give us more information about the Undermountain product? Box set or hardcover? Any info at all please.

1:41
Comment From Entropy-Rising
How well will Dungeon Command be able to be used in DnD? eg minis, tiles?

1:41
Comment From jovis70
just want to let you know I really like what you started to do with the tile sets and I hope you continue producing them
1:42
Comment From Delgard
Will any 2012 releases be FLGS-only? (like Emporium)? Has this release approach been deemed successful?

1:42
(Greg Bilsland here): Halls of Undermountains is a sandbox-style adventure that targets a level 1-5 experience. It is going to be tied moderately to the D&D Encounters season, and possibly also LFR (I provided some of the admins with the text).

1:43
Comment From Quindia
Can you describe the covers of the Premium 1E books since the image didn't work? Are they Wayne Reynolds remakes of the originals, one of the old school artists, etc?

1:43
Greg Bilsland: Halls of Undermountain does have some minis adventures within it, as well as many of the iconic encounters and rooms from the original box set. About 1/3 of the rooms from the first level of the dungeon are detailed.

1:43
Comment From Greg@PDX
Will character builder still support 4E for those still playing 4E campaigns?

1:44
Comment From ZanderKreegan
It was mentioned that there might be conversion materials for characters from 4e (or before) into D&D Next. Will this be available for playtesters who wish to use this material in a current campaign?

1:44
to Greg - At this point our plans are to continue to provide support to 4E characters in the character builder.

1:44
Comment From ZanderKreegan
Can we expect a remake of Castle Greyhawk, since we're seeing an Undermountain remake?

1:45
Comment From Delgard
I have a huge collection of D&D minis. Can these be used somehow in Dungeon Command?

1:45
Comment From GTCharlie
The tiles Master sets were intended to be evergreen but were tied to the Essentials line. Will WotC maintain their production even after the transition to D&D Next?

1:46
Comment From Style75
Any more novel tie-ins like the Abyssal Plague? Is that series over or will we see more 4e content from the abyssal plague?
1:46
Alright all. That wraps up the Q&A and the seminar on products. Thanks much to everyone for joining us and getting those questions in. If you didn't see your question asked, we are still collecting them all and will be sitting down with R&D to see which ones we can answer in the future. There will also be some video from @dreadgazeebo and make sure to check out the other coverage from the many bloggers and twitterers out there.

1:47
We have one more seminar for D&D XP that focuses on reimagining ability scores as the window into shaping your character. Join us again tomorrow at 12:30 Eastern time for that.

  1. Aha, czyli generalnie koncert życzeń plus enigmatyczne odpowiedzi. Powiem, że opcja "print on demand" bardzo by mnie ucieszyła.

  3. Mylisz się, w powyższym komentarzu hejcę tylko na tak małą ilość konkretów z szumnie zapowiadanego D&D XP.
